1-5 á 10 flasker der smages

#1 Cameron Brig

Bottling note:
This single grain whisky was distilled at the Cameronbridge distillery in fife. A very light, gentle whisky.

Taste note:
Nose: Light, subtle. Honey, spice.
Palate: Caramel, mixed peels, a touch of sherry, sultanas.
Finish: Medium length, oak and honey, more peels.

#2 Cameronbridge 23 Year Old 1990 (cask 9860) - The Sovereign (Hunter Laing)

Bottling note:
The Sovereign range, continued by Hunter Laing, looks to honour the noble single grain whisky with release like this tremendous 23 year old single cask from Cameronbridge.

#3 Darkness! North British 18 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish

Bottling note
Not even single grain whisky can escape the reach of Darkness! This North British spent 3 months in first-fill, 50 litre Oloroso Sherry casks before it was bottled. These casks were specially coopered and allow for much more interaction between the whisky and wood, resulting in more complexity and a rich depth of Sherry notes. Nothing escapes the Darkness!

Taste notes:
Nose: A hint of raspberry bush, tobacco leaf and vanilla. Flamed lemon peel, custard pastries, bay leaf and nutmeg.
Palate: Brown sugar, blueberry a touch of evaporated milk, sweet spice and rich caramel.
Finish: Crème brûlée with a liberal dusting of nutmeg.

Overall: There's something Christmassy about this combination of spices and egg custard style notes, but if you're more comfortable with vanilla caramel than eggnog then you're still in the right place.

#4 Greenore 8 Year Old

Bottling note:
An 8 year old single grain whiskey from Ireland! This won Gold (Best in Class) three years running at the International Wine and Spirits Competition between 2008 and 2010. Greenore is distilled at the Cooley distillery.

Taste note:
Nose: Lemon sponge, honeyed cereal, vanilla and a little caramel. Toasted oak, banana and tropical fruit. Fairly light, but full of flavour - very nice indeed!
Palate: Sweet, smooth vanilla before spicy oak comes in. Touches of menthol and coconut ice.
Finish: Long with maple and pecan, milk chocolate and a hint of salinity.
Overall: A sensational grain whiskey this, top stuff!

#5 Invergordon - Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)

Bottling note:
This is a wonderfully quirky bottling of Invergordon single grain whisky from That Boutique-y Whisky Company. It boasts an illustration of a Coffey still (the distillery used to have two of these) though it takes the pronunciation of the name perhaps a little too literally!

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, blended malts and blends from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic-novel-style labels.

This is Batch 1, with a release of 252 numbered bottles.

Taste note:
Nose: Massively deep and concentrated nose with creamy caramel and those hints of rancio one gets in a very good, old brandy. Black pepper and toffee apples. Old leather.
Palate: Unctuous, almost syrupy palate entry with stem ginger and cassia bark. Hints of nutmeg, clove oil and over-ripe black grapes. Black treacle too...
Finish: Long and toffee-led finish. All kinds of spice notes too, particularly more of those black pepper notes.
